It Gets Cold in Hungary

A new entry has been made on the list of things I should have realized before coming here:
-It gets cold.

I've worn a scarf, my coat, long sleeves, and some variation of tights/pants/cardigans every day this week.  My landlord came over to turn on the heat last night and it's so much more pleasant now, thank goodness!  Hungary's heating system is interesting.  We don't have central air.  The few places that have air conditioning have air conditioning units.  And the heater is radiators in every room that have hot water pumped through them.

I also had my appointment at immigration this week.  UWM has a wonderful woman who takes care of all of the complicated things.  Between her and our Hungarian Affairs liaison at ICSB, all of the paperwork got taken care of.  I was expecting it to take upwards of 2 hours based on everyone else's reaction when I said I was headed there, but it only took 1.  We got there really early.  So I was able to make it back to my class having missed only an hour of school.

I love my job.  I mean really, really love my job.  I love the people I work with.  I love ICSB.  And I especially love my class.  My kids are so sweet and funny.  I don't mean there aren't problems or things that we have to deal with, but on the whole, I really have the ideal class.  

I've joined a Bible study with some of the women from the school.  We are going through Ephesians.  I'm really enjoying it.  The fellowship, of course, is wonderful but the study and the things that others pull out of the chapters are incredible.  I've also joined an accountability group.  We meet every other week at the Cukrazda (at least, that's something like how it's spelled) and eat ice cream or drink tea and talk about what God's been doing in our lives and then we pray together.  It really is such a sweet time to really be transparent.  As scary as it is revealing some of the worst things about yourself or sharing the things you're struggling with, I don't think there's anything more wonderful than sharing it, having people look back at you with love and not judgement, and then listening to those people praying for you.

Megan and I are planning a trip to Salzburg in a few weeks.  I'm excited!!
